Eliot Senior Citizens Monthly Meetings

senior meetingThe Eliot Senior Citizens group meets the second Wednesday of every month. Join us to stay informed about senior issues and events in Eliot. Meetings include lunch and guest speaker or entertainment. This program is free to all seniors.

Eliot "Senior Appreciation Day" Turkey Dinner

turkeyThe Board of Selectmen and the Eliot Town Employees will host a turkey dinner for the Eliot Seniors. The turkey dinner will be served at 12:00 PM. Please call Melissa at the Town Hall at 439-1813 to make your reservation. The last day to register for this event is Monday, May 8th. Pie donations for dessert are needed. Please call Kyle at 451-9334 if you’d like to bring a pie.

Eliot Senior Clambake

clambakeEnjoy your choice of lobster or lobster roll served with steamers, corn on the cob, roll, drink and dessert. The Youth Bound Summer Program will once again be on hand to serve your meal to you for this afternoon. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be on sale beginning June 1st. Deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, July 14th. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Senior Citizens Cookout

cookoutCome join us for the annual senior BBQ. We’ll enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, beverages and desserts. Tickets are available for purchase in the ECSD office. Edward Jones will be sponsoring the event and entertainment will be provided. Last day to purchase tickets is Monday, July 31st. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Breakfast ClubCome join us for breakfast around the Seacoast. Each time we will visit a new restaurant for a yummy start to our day. The cost of breakfast is on your own. The programs fee covers transportation to and from the restaurant. Quite a few breakfast places only accept cash so please plan accordingly. Please register by the Thursday prior to our trip.

Folsom Sugar House & Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery

Maple sugaring at its finest! Come see one of New England’s spring traditions on display at Folsom Sugar House in Chester, NH.  After touring the sugar house, you can peruse the store for some maple goodies.  Lunch will follow at Tuckaway Tavern which features playful food names and the best ingredients. The food at the Tavern will make your dining experience a memorable one, and one you will likely want to experience again. (Lunch on your own)

Manchester (NH) Millyard Museum & Red Arrow Diner

Operated by the Manchester Historic Association, the Millyard Museum is housed in Mill No. 3 in the historic Amoskeag Millyard. The Museum features the story of Manchester, NH and the people who have lived and worked here. It starts with the native peoples who fished at Amoskeag Falls 11,000 years ago and continues with displays on the area's early farmers and lumbermen, and the beginnings of industry in the area.  We will have lunch at Manchester’s famous Red Arrow Diner which was featured on diner’s drive in’s and dives and is a local food hotspot. (Lunch on your own)

Narrow Gauge Railroad Train Ride/Museum & Cracker Barrel Restaurant

The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad (Portland, ME) is dedicated to the preservation and operation of Maine’s two foot gauge railway equipment for the education and enjoyment of the public. The small museum features exhibits relating to Maine’s narrow gauge railway history, several historic rail cars, and a unique gift shop. Included with admission is a scenic waterfront train ride. The leisurely train ride lasts approximately 35 minutes and travels 3 miles round trip along the Eastern Promenade of Casco Bay.  Lunch will follow at a longtime favorite, Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Portland. (Lunch on your own)

ANNUAL JUNE BUS TRIP: Tower Hill Botanical Gardens & 1761 Old Mill Restaurant

In 1986, the Worcester County Horticultural Society purchased Tower Hill Farm in Boylston, MA, to develop as a botanic garden where the ideals of the organization could be put into practice for the community – thus Tower Hill Botanic Garden was born. With 17 distinct gardens on more than 130 acres, much of it preserved as woodland and open space, Tower Hill is dedicated to the cultivation and display of some of the most exquisite plants in the world. Lunch will follow the botanical garden tour at the 1761 Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster, MA. The restaurant also includes a country store which you can peruse.  Transportation will be provided by Custom Coach in one of their coach busses which features comfortable seats and a lavatory. MEAL CHOICE: Yankee Pot Roast or Baked Whitefish; All entrees are served with fruit cup, potato, vegetable, corn fritters, dinner rolls, homemade apple crisp and coffee.
