Committees
Our department welcomes the input of our residents. We currently have a number of committees that provide us with valuable guidance and feedback as well as assist us with planning special events, recruiting volunteers, fundraising and serving as liaisons to the public.
We currently have several openings on our committees. If you are interested in joining, please contact Heather at (207) 451-9334.
Advisory Committee
Advisory Committee members voted on July 31, 2007 to no longer meet as an Advisory Committee. This Committee was established in 1998 when the Community Service Department had gone from a volunteer Department to a one person Department, and for the sole purpose of offering advice about programming and leagues. This Committee would like to now focus on the development of a Community Center in Eliot. This revised Committee will now be known as FRIENDS of Community Service.
Please note: The Advisory Committee can not officially terminate it's membership until an official Town vote or Warrant Article. More information will follow when details are decided upon.
FRIENDS of Community Service
The mission of Friends of ECSD is to serve and promote recreation interests and financially support recreation facilities in the Town of Eliot for the benefit of the general public.
The larger focus of this Committee will be on research, design development, public relations, fundraising, grant writing and liaising with the Board of Selectmen, other town committees, local businesses and the public.
Friends will also assist the department with fundraising projects, in addition to recruitment, training and organizing volunteers for various programs and events sponsored by the ECSD.
Eliot Children's Leadership Council
The Eliot Children’s Leadership Council was established in 1998 to lend support, through volunteers and funds, to promote programs and opportunities that promote youth awareness, empowerment and enrichment.
The Children’s Leadership Council is currently on hiatus. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to serve as chair of the council and refocus the group’s efforts by proposing and driving projects that will benefit the children of Eliot.
